To keep your Colorbond fence looking its best, BlueScope Steel recommends washing your fence at least once every six months (or every three months if you live in a coastal location where marine salt spray is prevalent).

You can wash your Colorbond fence with a mild solution of non-abrasive dishwashing detergent and warm water. Washing can be conducted with a sponge, soft cloth or soft bristle brush. Avoid using scourers and steel wool as they can scratch the surface of your fence. Hose down your fence afterwards on a low setting to remove any detergent residue.

Spot a cobweb or two? Simply brush it away with a soft broom.

Colorbond advises against building up soil, garden fill and/or dirt against the bottom rails and posts of your fence as this will retain water and lead to corrosion. Our AliRetain plinths help to ensure the soil does not build up at the bottom of the fencing and guarantee’s longevity of the fence.

It is best to avoid spraying fertilisers on your fence as they can damage the surface of your fence. Also, avoid touch-up paint as touch-up paint will weather differently than Colorbond steel.
